Tomorrow is the day that Nora Roberts and I, along with half a dozen or so other authors, will sign books for hundreds of adoring fans at the Turn the Page Bookstore Cafe in Boonsboro, MD from noon until 2:00. Actually, Nora will have hundreds of adoring fans there while I will have, let's see . . . carry the one . . . never mind. Math isn't my strong suit. Let's just say that I am the only author there who is not selling a romance or mystery/romance novel. Nevertheless, all those romance readers surely have baseball fans in their lives and so here's the sign I intend to display at my table:
Buy a signed copy of Safe at Home: A Season in the Valley to show the baseball fan in your life that you were thinking about him or her while you were waiting in line to buy the book and get the autograph that you actually came here for.
I ought to come away with a dozen adoring fans or so once they see that, don't you think? If you have any suggestions for how to improve my sign, I'd be happy to hear them.
While the event officially ends at 2:00, I have been told that everyone in line at that time will be allowed to go through. This means that the bookstore managers "hope" to get the authors out of there by 5:30, at which point I will be rushing to New Market to join adoring fans Jay Lively, Kevin Barb, and Andrew Kipps in the webcast booth. At least, I think that they adore me. They haven't said that they didn't so that's close enough.
