New Market Rebel manager Bruce Alger recently informed me that he enjoys two Christmases.
"The obvious one and June 1st, when the Rebels have their first practice. Then I get to see what the baseball gods have brought to me for this year!" Well, it's June 1st, so Merry Christmas, Bruce!
The Rebel G. M. will be up in the press box with a cup of coffee watching the action and I'll be right there with him. Morning baseball practice on the first day of June? Is this heaven? No, it's New Market. (Field of Dreams fans will get this allusion.)
Indeed, if you're a baseball fan this is your time of the year: The majors and minors are in full swing, the College World Series and Little League World Series will begin soon, and the Valley League, as well as other summer leagues will be underway in a week . . . MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Hehe.. I've been tempted to go down and watch some of the practices too. I think I have to wait for the games though!

I'll have to wait until school lets out...My Christmas arrived when the players rolled into town. The one I got is just the right size! There won't be any hunting down of that receipt!
