Posted below is a YouTube music video featuring the song, "Precious, Unborn Child," which was written and sung by my long-time and talented friend, Margo Smith. The song and video are a tribute to the joys of expectant parenthood and it certainly took me back to the days when Martha was pregnant and I was nervous.
Clearly, the song makes a political statement regarding the subject of abortion, but I am making no political statement by highlighting it here. Some of you will agree with it politically and some of you will not and since there seems to be a political blog for every man, woman, and child in the country, there is no need, nor desire, to start including political statements in this one. Margo's song deserves attention because it is a excellent example of how to make a positive statement about one's own beliefs without in any way denigrating anyone with an opposing point of view. It also deserves attention because it is an excellent example of a talent that deserves to be celebrated. If you enjoy this song, check out her website.
And, if you are a parent, it will take you back to those heady days when Junior was a blank canvas upon which our imaginations could paint pictures of future Hall of Famers. I hope that you all feel as I do; that the children we have are far more wonderful than anything that we ever imagined. If you are an expectant parent, you are in for the ride of a lifetime; just pack plenty of Kleenex and patience.
