On this date 36 years ago, one of the great songs of all-time became #1 on the Billboard charts: "Love Train" by the O'Jays. (Wait a minute . . . 36 years ago? Really?) It's a testament to the song's staying power that Coors beer uses it in its television commercials even today.
Now, here's the real point of this post: I got this information from this really great website that lists the #1 song for every day of the year all the way back to the 1890s! Most songs from the 1960s on up may be sampled and purchased through iTunes or Rhapsody. In any case, you would be hard-pressed to find a better site on which to waste time while at work than this one.
